Chapter 1: Basic equipment.
There are things that you are going to need of you want to survive in this city, the first would be a map.
I'm not talking about a GPS or something like that, a paper map that you can fold up and keep in your pocket is your best friend when it gets dark and you can't read the street signs.
A flashlight.
Simple enough right, helpful when your scavenging in dark areas, only use it when you really need it, charged batteries are hard to come by and the light will often get you unwanted attention.
If your lucky you might find one of those flashlight you only need to shake to charge, mine cost me 2 weeks worth of food...
Clothes with large and/or big pockets.
You want to make sure that if you find a nice cache of supplies, you got room to get at least most of it in 1 trip.
A bag of some kind.
Same as above, got me a messenger bag, I never leave without it.
A bottle of water.
If you get trapped someplace you need to make sure you can survive long enough to get out, good idea to bring a empty one with you too, in case you find some drinkable water (more on that in a later chapter).
Some food.
Preferably something that can give you a quick energy boost, never know when you need that extra push to get to the good spots.
A knife.
Useless against THEM, but handy in most other situations.
A handful of cash.
Believe it or not, but some people still take paper bills as payment (more on these people later).
A empty metal can.
Yes, a can, I'll tell you why later.
Now these are just basic thing you are going to need if you want to survive, I'll get on to weapons, clothing and various other supplies you might come across later, but for now this should keep you alive.
